Pine Cones

We have some pine trees in our back yard.  They are great for crafts, but are extremely sappy which equals sticky fingers.

The good news is you can do something about the stickiness and kill any bugs that might be hanging out on your pine cones.

1. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
2. Place pine cones in a single layer on the foil.
3. Put in a 225 degree oven.
4. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
5. Remove from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet.

I would like to do more crafts with the pine cones I have saved. Here is one idea for using pine cones for crafting.

These pine cone Christmas trees were lots of fun for the kids to make. Here are the instructions for how we made them.

Have you ever crafted with pine cones?
